Cantabria – Somo
Located near Santander, Somo is a small town on the Cantabrian coast that maintains a calm and relaxed atmosphere while offering excellent beaches for unwinding, strolling, or enjoying water sports such as surfing. Somo beach is a vast stretch of fine sand over 4 kilometres long, set in a natural landscape and surrounded by a beautiful pine forest. The beaches of Somo and Loredo are well-known in Spain for their ideal wave conditions catering to all levels, from beginners to professionals, and the town boasts numerous surf camps and schools. In the centre of Somo, several shops, restaurants, and beachfront bars offer a laid-back vibe. It is the perfect place to recharge your batteries while having fun in the waves.
It is also easy to take a short excursion to Santander. A regular ferry service allows visitors to travel conveniently from Somo to Santander to explore this beautiful city, which features numerous monuments, historic sites, museums, restaurants, and bars.

Half-day or Full-day Excursion to Santander:
To reach Santander, participants take the ferry, which connects Somo to the city in just 30 minutes—a lovely crossing with beautiful sea views. Santander offers a full range of urban attractions (monuments, museums, restaurants, bars) alongside natural beauty and beaches. The city is organised around a large harbour dating back to before the Roman Empire. The landscape, with its vast green spaces, highlights areas such as Mataleñas, El Sardinero, and La Magdalena, where King Alfonso XIII had his summer residence. Santander is known as one of the most elegant and beautiful cities on Spain’s northern coast, alongside San Sebastián, and is well worth a visit. Self-guided or guided excursions with a local guide are available.
